Within a brief which requested us to design of a set of 3 nesting, low cost, polypropylene bowls with an optional lid, we looked for a way to create a unique and beautiful product.
The concept of the Yumi bowls was to create the DNA of the set not by scaling down each bowl in proportion, but rather to have a strong visual line that runs at the same height on all 3 bowls. From this line, each bowl tapers down allowing for the user to easily pick it up from the table and also creates an effect that the bowls are seemingly floating.
