Studio Kuchik & Amitai is awarded the 2021 Edmond de Rothschild Design Award for emerging designers

We are thrilled to announce that our studio received the 2021 Edmond de Rothschild Design Award for emerging designers. The Rothschild Design Award was founded on the need to promote public awareness of the excellence and prominence of the design field in Israeli society. The prize is given to outstanding designers, both senior and emerging, in recognition of their significant contribution to shaping contemporary culture, creating a unique body of work, and contributing to the advancement of the economy, technology, and industry. Thank you to the Rothschild fund and award jury for this honorable recognition.

T-Fence Packaging and Design Inspiration Kit join Design Museum Holon Collection and exhibit in Black Box exhibition

We are happy to announce that our Design Inspiration Kit designed for Stratasys and T-Fence Packaging design for Harbo joined Design Museum Holon’s Collection. The pieces along with Nature of Material development models (which have been a part of the museum’s collection since 2015) are presented at the “Black Box” exhibition at the museum.

VELA chair for Magis awarded the 2020 “Best in Class” Good Design Award in the Furniture & Lighting Category

Our Vela chair for Magis has won the 2020 “Best in Class” Good Design Australia in the Furniture & Lighting Category! From the jury’s comments: “A minimal design which makes perfect use of magnesium’s structural properties. It’s an interesting direction, so lightweight and aesthetically intriguing. A beautiful piece with ingenious use of strong and recyclable materials. Well done.”

We have a new name!

We are happy to to announce our studio’s new name: Gilli Kuchik & Ran Amitai. After working under the name “Bakery Studio” for the past years, we felt it was time for us to work under our own personal names. We are very happy for this change and look forward to continue working with new and existing friends, colleagues and clients. Thank you longtime graphic designer Naama Tobias for the updating our logo and branding originally designed by Michal Sahar.

Sound Bucket exhibited in “Sound and Matter in Design” in Design Museum Holon

Sound Bucket is one of the studio’s earliest works and was done during our student exchange to Staatliche Akademie der Bildenden Künste in Stuttgart, Germany in 2008. The project was selected to participate in “Sound and Matter in Design” in Design Museum Holon which explores the ways in which spaces, environments, and everyday experiences are shaped by sound.

Chair 2 wins NYCXDesign award in guest seating category

Chair 2 by Bakery Studio – Gilli Kuchik & Ran Amitai for Cappellini won the best chair in the “Guest Seating” category at an event hosted by MoMA (The Museum of Modern Art). The jury panel of 30 luminaries, including our heroine curator Paola Antonelli, chose Chair 2 from 4 finalist chair designs.

Our Elastic Hinge glasses for “Overview” exhibition at Design Museum Holon

Together with numerous Israeli designers and architects Bakery Studio – Gilli Kuchik & Ran Amitai, was commissioned to design a pair of glasses for “Overview” exhibition. In response we designed Elastic Hinge, a pair of glasses that explores the folding mechanisms of glasses using 3d printing technology.

UpnRide 1.0 launched at Rehacare 2016

UPnRIDE 1.0 is a project we have been working on for the past year. The project, which included the design of dozens of elements, is the first social design project of the studio and we are very grateful for the opportunity to be a part of this life changing innovation.
