During the market research stage we thoroughly evaluate the targeted market segment of the new product. This usually includes an acquaintance with the product’s specific field (whether new or established), a research of the competitive landscape, related products whether in function or morphology, products from similar fields and using online resources to measure and understand demand. The end of the market research stage is an analysis of the targeted market and an understanding of the potential market segments that have the best potential for our clients.

During the user research stage we get to know the products users, key stakeholders and users environment and working conditions. This stage is performed using various qualitative ethnographic research techniques like observations and interviews. After gathering the data we identify the key personas that are relevant to the product and define each of the personas physical and emotional pains and gains in order to establish meaningful insights that will help guide the design process.

UX design is the process of designing products that are useful, easy to use, and fun to interact with. It’s about enhancing the experience that people have while interacting with your product, and making sure they find value in what you’re providing. Great UX experiences improve customer satisfaction and loyalty through the utility, ease of use, and pleasure provided in the interaction with a product.
In the UX design process we determine what that users experience will be. This is a creative and analytical process in which we define what a product is going to do for people, how they’ll use it, and what it looks/sounds/feels like.
The process starts with studying who the customers are and what they need through user research, and using that information to design products that improve the quality of people’s lives. These ideas are then validated through real customer feedback and iterated on to ensure the final product will work well for those that will be using it and providing solutions that align to a desired experience.

Design strategy is the intersection of product design and business strategy. Design strategy can be applied in two levels: the product level and the company level.
Design strategy on the product level: The design strategy at the product level is a statement of the all the products requirements. These requirements need to accommodate the client’s business needs, the users and stakeholders needs and the technological requirements. The design strategy is based on data which is collected in the research stage of the product and are then implemented into the product design.
Design strategy on the company level: Design strategy can also be applied to the bigger picture and help companies understand how they can innovate within their given abilities and where they should focus both immediately and over the long-term. Design strategy can help companies identify new markets segments, turn problems into solutions, strengthen their brand, generate more sales and create long term brand loyalty. The process of creating a brand strategy requires a thorough analysis of the company’s existing products and manufacturing abilities, market research, user research which are then translate into a working plan for area of focus and product development plan.

During the concept stage we develop preliminary design concepts based on the client-approved brief. The concept stage is for us the heart of the creative process kinda where the magic happens : ) Although this process might seem artistic, it is in fact a methodological creative process which is informed by data, technology and strategy.
Concept generation is done through sketches, models of various fidelity types, storyboards and more. At the end of the process the client is presented with a number of design concepts which implement the project’s brief, strategy, added values and engineering concept. From these concepts the client selects a chosen concept to move forward with to the next stages of the design process.

Ergonomic design requires both theoretical data and a hands on testing and validation approach. Through the years we specialized in analyzing ergonomic needs and building models for usability testings and evaluation. This stage is performed using both theoretical data such as anthropomorphic standards and physical hands on testing with models at varying degrees of fidelity. We know how to accommodate not only comfort related ergonomics issues but also to analyze and comply to the the various sensory needs including visual, auditory and touch requirements according to various human factors standards.

We love solving problems : ) If you have a usability or technical problem that requires a creative solution we would love to help you solve it! Through the use of various design techniques like brainstorming, fast and dirty mockups and hands on material experimentation we have managed to help our clients solve many technical difficulties, fast. Our guiding motto in solving is that any problem can be solved, the trick is to solve it in effortless solutions.

During this stage the chosen concept is developed and refined in detail into a real manufacturable product. In this stage the shape, parting line and meeting points between parts, product graphics and materials are meticulously iterated and refined and are integrated in high resolution with the other components of product such as electronics, mechanics and engineering requirements. During this stage the design is optimized for manufacturing, regulations and cost and CMF (color, material and finishes) are defined in detail. This stage is performed using 3d printed models to test and refine the design, ergonomics and functionality.

During the design process we use many models and mockups to evaluate the design. In early stages such as concept development, models are made in the studio using foam or cardboard. In more advanced stages, models are printed in house in our Formlabs SLA 3d printer. Appearance models which require finishing and paint are sent to model making professionals, while we take care of RFQ and communications with the selected vendors.
