Wool Vase is part of the studio’s ongoing vase experiments. The project explores the archetype of the vase and reexamines its foundations. Through this reexamination we realized that a vase needs to be sealed only in its lower part in order to hold water.
We materialized this understanding by using a resin dipped wool thread which is wrapped around a degradable vase. The bottom part is wrapped tightly in order to receive a dense sealed surface and the top part is wrapped loosely. After the resin hardens, the degradable vase is dissolved leaving a seemingly floating in air wool thread in the shape of a vase.
